So you have the MXs for your domains pointing to
postfix instance on

single IP machine that acts as a gateway and also runs perdition,
forwarding mails to the respective sub-servers?
YES
Perdition only deals with POP/IMAP, you need to use
something else
for
SMTP.
I suppose SMTP AUTH can do the job. But this is NOT Perdition way.
I have another routing mail server on this Xen box without Perdition
installed. It also works without problem routing incoming mails to
their own mail server. But roaming mail clients can neither login to
send nor login to download mails on their mail servers.
Is there a specific reason the mail _needs_ to be sent
through their
respective domain servers? Can't you just have the gateway node
handle it
all? (of course in real life you really want this to be at least a 2
node
HA cluster)
I thinks I can make use of the routing mail server to allow roaming
mail clients sending mails. For good housekeeping I prefer to go the
former way so that outbound mails can be retained on their own mail
servers rather than having all records on the routing mail server.
This is an experiment. In real life it is not feasible to have 100
domains pointing at one public IP for sending and downloading mails.
On Xen box it is possible running >100 servers as domU concurrently.
Although I haven't tested it. However I did try running 25 servers
concurrently as domU on this Xen box without problem.
If you need it to go through their servers, you could
force-forward
the
mails submitted (MSA) to the gateway machine to the correct domain
server
by some postfix magic based on the login credentials.
I'm pretty sure I could do something like this with Exim, for postfix
you
need to find a postfix guru I guess.
Could you please explain in more detail. Pointer would be appreciated.
