I think that you are correct and the only thing that
you will need to
teach perdition is the correct capabilities to advertise. That can be
done through the configuration file.
I will need to test this, since I am proxying to different backends,
some with an older courier-imapd without compression support und my own
backends with compression.
And as always: most clients ignore any further capabilities advertisment
which may occur after the login. (This has already bitten me twice.)
It will be interesting to see if the clients breaks badly if I advertise
compression support via perdition and the backend then does not
understand the command.
