kernel and smp ?

Installation Notes: Ultra Monkey on Red Hat Enteprise Linux 3
"Previous releases of Ultra Monkey provided a customised kernel, however
this is not needed for this release as all the features that Ultra Monkey
uses are provided by the Red Hat kernel."
Does it mean that I should be able to switch 2.4.21-27.EL and
2.4.21-27.ELsmp without problems ?
